Farm Features

We offer horseback riding lessons, summer camp, and boarding at our picturesque farm just outside of Moorefield, Ontario. We are just a short distance from miles of beautiful trails at the Conestogo Lake Conservation Area.

All lessons at Willowcrest are overseen by Equestrian Canada Licensed Coach Julie Diamond. Julie is a skilled coach who aims to help riders and horses work as a team and attune their skills. Read more about Julie below.

We offer 30 box stalls with turnout in large grass paddocks. Stalls are bedded with shavings and cleaned daily. We have a 200 x 100 outdoor sand ring and a 70 x 130 indoor arena complete with seating area. We offer a full course of hunter jumps.

We compete at schooling shows as well as the provincial Silver circuit. Learn more about our horseback riding lessons and beginner program here.

Meet Coach Julie Diamond

Coach Julie Diamond is an Equestrian Canada Licensed Coach and has many years of experience as both a competitor and a coach on the show circuits in southern Ontario.

Julie started her riding career at 10 years of age taking lessons and showing school ponies at local schooling shows and fairs and also attending a few A circuit shows. At 18, she owned her first horse named Sidney, a two-year-old quarter horse, who she broke and trained to show in the hunter ring.

In 1997, Julie accepted a position as barn manager at a new facility outside of Baden, Ontario, which she helped open and develop for the next 6 years. Julie was teaching more than 90 students each week, as well as coaching clients and riding horses on the provincial trillium circuit.

In 2001, Julie married John and started a family the next year. In 2003, after moving north of KW, Julie decided to concentrate on raising her two little girls and only teach part-time, freelancing at local barns.

In 2008, Julie and John purchased a 50 acre farm outside of KW and opened Willowcrest Farm. Willowcrest encourages a positive and respectful atmosphere for riders to learn and develop their love for horses. It has grown to offer summer camps, riding lessons and boarding.

While working at local boarding stables and completing high school, Julie decided to pursue a career in horses and started teaching riding. At 22, she was accepted to the equine studies program at Humber College. This prepared her to take the Canadian Equestrian Federation level one coaching exam in 1993. After passing the exam she came back to the Kitchener-Waterloo area and started freelance teaching.

Shortly after returning to the area, Julie purchased another young prospect to bring along to the hunter ring. He was a three-year-old thoroughbred named Dylan aka Special Delivery. Dylan and Julie went on the show and won many championships on the provincial Trillium circuit.
