About Willowcrest Farm
Operated by Julie Diamond, Willowcrest Farm specializes in hunter/jumper.
In 1997, Julie accepted a position as barn manager at a new facility outside of Baden, Ontario, which she helped open and develop for the next 6 years. Julie was teaching more than 90 students each week, as well as coaching clients and riding horses on the provincial trillium circuit.
In 2001, Julie married John and started a family the next year. In 2003, after moving north of KW, Julie decided to concentrate on raising her two little girls and only teach part-time, freelancing at local barns.
In 2008, Julie and John purchased a 50 acre farm outside of KW and opened Willowcrest Farm. Willowcrest encourages a positive and respectful atmosphere for riders to learn and develop their love for horses. It has grown to offer summer camps, riding lessons and boarding.
While working at local boarding stables and completing high school, Julie decided to pursue a career in horses and started teaching riding. At 22, she was accepted to the equine studies program at Humber College. This prepared her to take the Canadian Equestrian Federation level one coaching exam in 1993. After passing the exam she came back to the Kitchener-Waterloo area and started freelance teaching.
Shortly after returning to the area, Julie purchased another young prospect to bring along to the hunter ring. He was a three-year-old thoroughbred named Dylan aka Special Delivery. Dylan and Julie went on the show and won many championships on the provincial Trillium circuit.
